Sri Lanka’s Pioneering and largest mobile money network, eZ Cash is partnering with Bharti Airtel Lanka (Airtel) for bill payments and reloads. eZ Cash customer can now make Airtel mobile bill payments and reloads using eZ Cash through mobile phones and as well as over 20,000 eZ Cash merchant outlets island wide. With over 2 million Airtel subscribers coming onboard the eZ Cash network now serves over 16 million subscribers to make bill payments and/or reloads from any Dialog, Etisalat, Hutch and Airtel via eZ Cash.

Pensioners across Sri Lanka can now receive their monthly pension disbursements directly to their mobile wallet, following an innovative partnership between the country’s largest mobile money network, eZ Cash, and the Department of Pensions. The ground breaking partnership empowers any pensioner connected to the Dialog, Etisalat or Hutch mobile networks to receive a self-defined portion of their pension to their mobile phone.

Pensioners from across Sri Lanka can now enable this service by submitting the relevant authorisation documents to the Department of Pensions. The pensioner is empowered to request up to Rs. 25,000 from their pension to be remitted instantly to their eZ Cash account. With eZ Cash, pensioners using a Dialog, Etisalat or Hutch mobile can pay utility bills, insurance premiums, make institutional payments and much more directly from their mobile phone. In addition to carrying out payments via their mobile phone, pensioners can withdraw the instant disbursement in part or full from over 16,000 eZ Cash merchants across Sri Lanka or send money to any other eZ Cash subscriber.

The wide portfolio of eZ Cash services can be accessed via the eZ Cash APP for Android and Apple devices or via a simple menu available in tri-lingual format by dialing #111#. Last year, eZ Cash secured international fame for Sri Lanka’s mobile payment industry winning the Global Mobile Award for the Best Mobile Money Service at the GSMA Mobile World Congress. eZ Cash has the distinction of being Sri Lanka’s pioneering and largest licensed mobile money service under the Central Bank of Sri Lanka under the aegis of the Payments and Settlements Act No. 28 of 2005.

eZ Cash Withdrawal at Commercial Bank ATMs

eZ Cash Sri Lanka’s premier Mobile Money service partners with Sri Lanka’s largest private sector bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, to give eZ Cash customers the ability to withdraw cash from selected ATMs island wide. The service will be extended to all ATMs of Commercial Bank in the near future.

Commercial Bank operates the country’s single largest ATM network, and the largest online 24-hour cash-dispensing system in the country. With this facility, in addition to the 20,000 retail points, eZ Cash account holders can withdraw money at their convenience from any Commercial Bank ATMs displaying the eZ Cash logo. The minimum withdrawal value is Rs. 100 and the maximum is Rs. 5,000 during a single transaction.

Through the partnership between Commercial Bank and eZ Cash, the bank has enabled Mobile Banking customers with eZ Cash accounts; the flexibility to top up their mobile wallets via a mobile and online portal. Commercial Bank customers can simply dial #8823# from their Dialog, Etisalat or Hutch mobiles and follow the simple instructions that appear on the screen, whilst the online service can be accessed by visiting Commercial Bank's client login home page on its website upon registration.

Sri Lanka’s pioneering mobile money service, eZ Cash, now enables subscribers to receive foreign remittances to their eZ Cash mobile wallet. eZ Cash – the world’s first inter-operable mobile payment system - is available to 14 million Dialog, Etisalat and Hutch subscribers in Sri Lanka, and the ability to electronically receive money to their mobile phone from anywhere in the world will significantly enhance the convenience of receiving inward remittances.

Inward Foreign remittances to eZ Cash mobile wallets has been made possible via the partnership between eZ Cash and HomeSend, a joint venture created by MasterCard, eServGlobal and BICS (Belgarcom International Carrier Services) that enables cross-border and cross-network value transfers.

The partnership allows persons resident overseas to transfer funds direct to an eZ Cash mobile money account facilitating cash out at participating locations.

Dialog and Etisalat to Deliver end-to-end Mobile Money Inter-Operability on eZ Cash

Etisalat Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. and Dialog Axiata PLC announced Monday 24th March that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka had approved and endorsed the extension of the eZ Cash Mobile Money Platform to Etisalat.

This world's first partnership between two mobile giants, Dialog and Etisalat Lanka, will enable over 60 per cent of the total mobile subscriber base in Sri Lanka to access and transact via eZ Cash mobile money accounts. The combined subscriber base of Dialog and Etisalat Lanka counting over 12.7 million, can now deposit, send and receive money, and conduct transactions across a portfolio of over 16,000 eZ Cash merchants providing top up, withdrawal and over the counter transactions, and over 100 online/web merchants providing online transaction capabilities via Etisalat and Dialog mobile phones. The eZ Cash service also extends a comprehensive portfolio of e-Government, Utility Bill and Insurance Premium Payment services via the mobile phone.

"The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has been focused on the institution of best practices in policy and regulation with respect to Mobile Money Services, as an integral component of our Financial Inclusion thrust," said the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ajith Nivard Cabraal. "I am very pleased to note that the mobile money eco-system in Sri Lanka has achieved end-to-end inter-operability and our team at the Central Bank will continue to drive towards transformational outcomes from the proliferation of inclusive financial services."

Following the progressive and beachhead action by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dialog and Etisalat will together deliver the world's first-ever fully interoperable mobile money service. "This is a good example of how mobile network operators are working together and innovating to provide financial services via mobile to more of their customers," said Seema Desai, Head of Mobile Money, GSM Association. "The GSMA is working with players across the industry to advance the conversation on interoperability, and support more markets to innovate and launch interoperable mobile money services."

Dialog introduced eZ Cash, Sri Lanka's first mobile money service in June 2012 under the aegis of the Payments and Settlements Act No. 28 of 2005. Custodial Banking Services for eZ Cash are provided by Hatton National Bank PLC, and further secured by a trust agreement administered by Deutsche Bank AG.
